Estimate your HELOC payments

Use the amount you plan to draw, rather than your full credit limit. These example rates are assumptions; enter your lender’s interest rates.

Assumes one draw at the start, interest-only payments during the draw period, then full amortization. Rates stay constant within each period. No additional draws, fees, taxes, insurance or balloon payment are included. Actual variable rates and lender minimum payments can change; interest-only payments do not reduce the balance.

Plan for both stages

A HELOC lets you borrow against home equity during a draw period. After that, repayment begins. Many HELOCs have variable rates, so try a higher repayment rate to see how your budget could change.

Review your lender’s draw, repayment, fee and rate terms. Some plans require a balloon payment, which this calculator does not model. Learn more in the CFPB HELOC guide and our home equity overview.
